High Expectations lead to High Achievers

Magical Maths

This year, we are launching an exciting new maths scheme called ‘Magical Maths’. This will be a whole school scheme, with the aim of developing children’s mental maths skills and instant recall of key number facts.

Every half term, the whole school will have a skill to focus on. Within this skill, each child will be given a target, suited to their own maths level, to aim towards. These targets will be stuck into the children’s reading record or school planner. In school, children will participate in ‘Magical Maths’ games at least three times a week before completing a timed ‘Super Spell’ to see how the children are progressing towards their target.

When children have successfully achieved their target, they will receive a sticker before being given a new target to aim towards.

We would love your support with this new scheme and have included some simple games you could play with your child to help them to achieve their target. Please make sure you check their reading record or pupil organiser regularly to keep up-to-date with your child’s targets.

Please find some links below to websites and suggested activities that you could play with your child to help them to reach their target.
